If you’re preheating Low-E glass that’s wider than 3 meters, you know the struggle. You want a perfectly even heat profile across the whole sheet, but standard infrared lamps usually leave you with annoying cold spots. It’s frustrating. We handle this by building custom, continuous IR heating units. And the secret sauce? Gold reflector plates. Why gold? Most people use aluminum reflectors, but they soak up too much energy. Gold is different. It’s incredibly efficient at bouncing infrared heat forward onto the glass instead of letting it bleed into the furnace housing. Basically, you get more heat hitting the target without having to crank up the power bill. It just works better. The headache of scaling up You can’t just take a 1-meter tube and stretch it to 3 meters. If you do, the quartz starts to sag. Then it breaks. Simple as that. To stop that from happening, we use segmented lamp arrays and heavy-duty supports to keep everything dead straight. We also spend a lot of time on the electrical side. If your voltage drops across a long run, your edges will be colder than your center. We calibrate the layout so the power is balanced from end to end. No more guessing. The reality check Here’s the thing: these high-density arrays put out a massive amount of ambient heat. Even with the gold reflectors pushing energy toward the glass, the back of the unit still gets scorching. You have to get your cooling fans and ventilation right.
